Description
25A Relay Contactor | Single and Three-phase
A 25A Relay Contactor (often referred to as a modular AC contactor) acts as a heavy-duty bridge between a low-power control signal and a high-power electrical load. While a standard relay is typically used for small electronics, a contactor is designed specifically to switch high currents – up to 25A – safely and repeatedly.
Core function of a relay contactor
It uses an internal electromagnetic coil to pull a set of heavy-duty contacts together. This allows a small device (like a smart switch, thermostat, or timer) to control a large appliance that would otherwise melt the small device’s internal circuitry directly.
Reason to use a 25A relay contactor
- Load protection: it prevents high inrush currents from damaging delicate control hardware.
- Galvanic isolation: it physically separates the control circuit from the high-power circuit, increasing safety.
- Durability: the contact points are made of robust silver alloys designed to resist the arcing that occurs when high-voltage circuits are opened and closed.
